It has certainly was a very busy year in the Construction Futures Centre with not only visitors but some new and exciting projects ready to go in 2020. In 2019 there was over 2 700 visitors to the CFC from Year 4 students through to adults.
We were honoured to partner with Property Council of Australia (WA division) for the annual ‘Girls in Property’ event, showcasing all occupations within the property industry and enjoyed hosting them once again this year at the CFC. We also welcomed regional schools such as Mount Barker Community College, Ngaanyatjarra Lands School and many new schools that had their first visit to the CFC. We also hosted a variety of associations and industry groups from the Housing Industry Association (HIA) National Conference, Design and Technology Teaching Association WA, School of Isolated and Distance Education.
In 2020 we will be releasing our new online downloadable teacher resources. They have all been aligned to the Curriculum Framework and will have an array of activities that teachers can implement before, during and after a visit to the CFC. The release of the materials will be for Year 8 through to Year 12 initially. We will be looking for some feedback from teachers who use the materials in 2020 when we release them.
During the year we developed a Construction Futures Regional incursion workshop for our remote and regional schools. It has finally been completed, with a few modifications to make it more exciting for students. Melissa is currently working on dates to visit some of the regions with the schools that have kindly put their hand up to be a part of the trial. We look forward to working with you and your students in 2020.
