Applications are now open for the 2026-27 round of the Skills Innovation Grant program.

First introduced in 2025, the program supports industry-led projects that explore new and improved ways to develop skills, build capability and enhance productivity across Western Australia’s (WA) building and construction workforce.

The inaugural funding round saw a range of innovative projects receive support, including a digital eLearning platform focused on roof truss installation and modern methods of construction, and a gamified microlearning platform delivering training in workplace safety, skills, BIM and project management. Together, these initiatives are helping build a safer, more skilled and future-ready construction workforce.

Building on this momentum, the 2026-27 funding pool has doubled to $1 million, reinforcing CTF’s commitment to fostering innovation and addressing workforce needs in the construction industry.

Through the Skills Innovation Grant program, CTF will invest in practical initiatives that strengthen training outcomes, support industry growth and help build a skilled, future-ready workforce.

Funding will be prioritised for projects that align with key government and industry priorities, including:

  • clean energy
  • modern methods of construction
  • innovation in training
  • support for the residential housing sector
  • workforce diversity
  • emerging digital and technology requirements in skills development
  • attraction and retention of a skilled construction workforce

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) with innovative ideas that can deliver meaningful benefits to Western Australia’s building and construction industry are encouraged to apply.
