General managers within construction companies have a broad scope of duties. This can include calculating cost estimates, budgets and schedules; selecting appropriate and efficient construction methods and materials; understanding and explaining contracts and technical information to employees; supervising staff and onsite activities; problem solving; ensuring projects are efficient and safe; hiring and training workers and ensuring a project meets all relevant regulations and requirements.
