Upskilling & Short Course Funding

The Construction Training Fund (CTF) provides funding for upskilling and short-course training for individuals in the construction sector seeking to future-proof their careers. Our rebates cover up to 80% of the cost of training courses, positioning you or your business for success.

Apprentice Completion Grant

The Apprentice Completion Grant offers apprentices a one-off payment for completing their qualifications. The initiative is designed to incentivise completion and provide support. Find out if you're eligible.

Pre-Apprenticeship Payment

CTF offers Western Australians $250 just for completing their pre-apprenticeship! This financial incentive covers a wide range of trades. Find out if there's one for you.

Accommodation Allowance

The CTF provides an accommodation allowance for eligible apprentices and trainees in regional Western Australia, aiding their travel to scheduled off-the-job training with an RTO. The allowance covers the accommodation cost difference per training night and the rebate from the Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD).

Disaster Recovery Grant

This grant provides additional support to employers, apprentices, and trainees involved in the reconstruction efforts after a natural disaster. Employers in affected regions can claim up to $3,000 annually until June 2025, while apprentices or trainees can receive up to $1,000 annually for expenses.

2023 Case Study

The Apprentice Tool Allowance (ATA) was a $4.5 million program by the Construction Training Fund. The program provided eligible apprentices and trainees with a rebate of $500 for the purchase of relevant tools and/or safety equipment required for their on-the-job work.

This program lasted for a period of 12 months, covering expenses incurred by eligible apprentices from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.

The Apprentice Tool Allowance was designed to:

  • provide financial support for apprentices' and trainees' on-the-job activities
  • promote safety and help update safety equipment
  • assist in retaining apprentices and trainees in employment for workforce sustainability
