CTF along with South Metro TAFE and North Metro TAFE are offering a series of Heritage Skills Training Sessions, and the best part is, they're FREE for both apprentices and tradespeople.

Discover Federation Tiling: A Path to Heritage Restoration

Introduction to cement quoin stone, banding and ashlar finishes

Introduction to heritage segmental masonry arches

Segmental arches, also known as scheme arches, are a prominent architectural feature with a circular arc spanning less than 180 degrees. They can be seen on many historical buildings across Perth.

This course is your gateway to elevating your bricklaying prowess to new heights.

Course Overview

The course is structured into two training sessions addressing the following crucial aspects:

1. Arch Geometry: Learn the skill of segmental arch geometry, enabling you to construct arches with precision.
2. Setting Out the Abutments: Learn the essential techniques for laying out the abutments, a foundational step in creating structurally sound segmental arches.
3. Setting Up the Arch Centre: Discover how to prepare the arch center.
4. Marking Skewback Bricks: Gain expertise in accurately marking and positioning skewback bricks to ensure the stability and aesthetics of your arches.
5. Precision Spandrel Cuts: Hone your skills in making precise spandrel cuts, a key factor in achieving flawless segmental arches.
